Hello friends!
Some of you know and to others this will be a surprise but, we will be out of the shop on January 6! My family is moving to Louisiana and as much as Toni would like to keep the shop going, it will be too much for her by herself and is taking a break and hopefully in the near future she will find a great location and open a shop of her own. We are having HUGE sales on our furniture so if there is anything you are interested in come on by and we will make you a great deal! We would like to thank our customer/friends for really allowing us to have such a blast and making our little prim shop full of love and laughter. And if you are ever around Fort Polk look me up, I will definitely have a little something going on down there!

Settled at the Yule Mart!

Toni and I are all settled into to our great little corner at the Yule Mart! Our booth looks so great but, the shop looks so pathetic. I't hard to have both full so just bear with us and we'll have everything back to normal next week. Toni and I will be closed November 24-27 to take a break and spend time with our families over Thanksgiving. Please come on by and check out our booth on Fort Bragg it's at the Soldier's Club which is the old Officer's Club, we will be there all weekend and Dee will be at the shop.

Sneak peek for the Yule Mart and our Open House!

Living in a military town and being married to a soldier, I just wanted to thank all Veterans past and present! Boy oh boy were we busy today, I didn't leave the shop until 630. So many new faces but, we love new customers. Toni and I have been busy little elves making stuff for the Yule Mart on Fort Bragg. We do it every year and even though it's a lot of work we love it! This year it's being held at the Soldier's Club (check our FB for directions) The shop is filled to the rim with Christmas, we have trees, garlands, wreaths, arrangements and so much more, come by and check us out! The Yule Mart will be Nov. 18-20 and Toni and I will be out at Ft. Bragg but, come on by the shop Dee will be open.

I am so thrilled for the cooler weather, it's been a scorcher here this summer and I am ready to get my Fall on! We have been so busy at the shop, we were slammed all day for our open house and have stayed pretty busy. We have had a lot going on and we decided to skip Cameron this year but, we got into the Yule Mart and will be setting up a booth on Fort Bragg and I will update everyone with dates and times. we have quite a lot of fall stuff out and in a few weeks will be getting our winter stuff out (isn't that just crazy to think!) Come on by, we have a lot of great new stuff.

I just got A Primitive Place magazine today and will have it at the shop on Monday, I just thumbed through it and it looks like another great issue. I can't wait to sit down and go through it. It's simple math, furniture out means furniture in and it's time to go shopping. We have been pretty busy at the shop and in our personal lives and we are hope to schedule a shopping trip soon, like maybe next week. We have Cameron Festival and the Yule Mart later in the year and we need to stock the shop full of wonderful finds. We are having our FALL OPEN HOUSE on Saturday September 17, we will have our fall items out and will be running a sale. Whoever came up with the statement "THE THRILL OF THE HUNT", got it right, that's the best part of shopping and hopefully we find a lot of great stuff!

Dreaming of Fall!

It's been so incredibly hot in North Carolina and we are dreaming of Fall. I did get one huge bag of gourds cleaned up and waxed. The small apple ones are so cute they look like mini pumpkins and we will be pulling out our fall items soon. We've had a great summer usually it's our slowest time of the year but, we are doing great. We will be doing our usual craft fairs this year one in the fall and one in the winter and we will be having our open house soon and will update the calendar of shop events so check back with us soon. I am heading out of town to visit my Dad in NV with my sister but Toni will be at the shop and make sure you come on by and say HOWDY!

I've got junk in the trunk!

I've got junk in the trunk and no I am not talking about my butt! I had done some shopping over the past few weeks and ended up with a lot of stuff. No big scores but, I love smalls too. Every year I buy a ton of gourds from a local farmer and clean them up and sell them in the fall so I had two huge bags of them, I found a primitive rocking horse and a cradle, and tons of kitchen items and it looks like Monday I will be pricing and putting them on the floor. So come on out and see all the junk that was in my trunk!

Boy oh boy, is it H*O*T in NC. It was about 100* today and the humidity made it feel like a 1,000*. I love NC but, the heat,not so much. I was told that I would get used to it but, after 16 years I haven't yet. All I can say is thank goodness for air conditioning and good ole' fashioned SWEET TEA without you both I think I'd die a slow and miserable death!

My last post was a little whiny about how hot and humid the weather has been and it's still hot and humid but, we have been incredibly busy and I really can't complain about that at all. We are so grateful that people are spending money and buying for their homes. I love it when we sell so much that it forces us to rearrange the shop and how, I got off so easy, I just don't know! Toni has spent the past two days moving furniture and tweaking BUT, she's so good at it, I just couldn't come in and mess with her MOJO! She's the BEST! Whew it's been miserable HOT here in NC and it's not even summer yet! it's getting to be that time of year where you just dread being outside. I have a few things to do in the yard this weekend and I hope I don't pass out from the heat! Toni and I are doing a little shopping this week, we have sold so much furniture in the past few weeks, it actually looks a little bare in the shop. I am really excited about going, with both of our busy schedules we haven't had a shopping trip together in a while. But, like usual we will be open and Dee will be there bright eyed and bushy tailed! Let us know if you are looking for anything in particular and we can keep an eye out.

Well, friends I have been out of the loop, right after our OPEN HOUSE I flew out to NV. Unfortunately my beloved Mother passed away. I was lucky enough my husband was training about 60 miles away and he was able to join me at my Dad's for a week. We got in last night and on my door step was a box and in the box was the WONDERFUL new A Primitive Place magazine and like each one before it's beautifully done and well worth buying. It will be in the shop Wednesday May 25!

I would like to start out by saying THANKS to Dee for working for Toni and I and THANKS to Kyle for coming Friday and Saturday and helping us out. We had a blast and it was the best show that we have done so far. We sold a ton of stuff and we did a little shopping too. We always have fun and we get to see old friends and make new one too! Well, this Saturday May 14th we are having our Open House and like usual we will offer 10% off of items not already marked down and for the first time we are doing a craft/small business vendor event in our parking lot. Some of our vendors are Pampered Chef, Thirty one Bags, Scentsy, Bows & tutu's, ACU purses, Primitive sewing and more. Cameron Antique Fair and events!

What a great month we have had. Toni and I have sold a lot of furniture, I was kind of sad to see her beautiful farm table go! We have been really busy at the shop and that's wonderful and we appreciate all of our customers. We are getting ready for Cameron Antique Fair this weekend (May 6 & 7) we will be set up across from the Prissy Hen (heading out of town), we have a good time and we are able to do a little shopping too! We are also having an Open House and a Craft/Small business event on Saturday May 14, it will be from 9-5, like always we will offer 10% off everything that's not already on sale. I promise to not break out into song (even though I know all the words to all the songs in the SOUND OF MUSIC!) I am a collector of collections I am one of those collectors that collect and then stop and then collect something else so I have many. Here are just a few, I love kitchen/cooking cans with great labels (coffee cans, spice tins, lard cans) if the label catches my eye than I buy it, there's no rhyme or reason to my madness. I love baskets and I have quite a lot so now my criteria is age and just appeal, I love crocks, especially the jug kind with little handles and I love boxes, I have a few stacks of boxes around my house one stack is little boxes and the others are advertisement boxes a few biscuit and a seed box, I also love the grain measurers and the round shaker sieves. Another Beautiful day!

What a beautiful day here in lovely North Carolina. Spring is here and I have been itching to get in the yard and dig in the dirt but, today I am up at the shop visiting with friends and thought I post a few pictures while I have a few minutes to myself! Toni got some WARM GLOW candles in and also some seed light garland (which is very pretty) we have our spring stuff out and the shop is full of great stuff, come by and check us out!

Spring has sprung!

Spring has sprung at the shop! We have eggs, nests, flags and all kinds of new treasures. we are getting ready for our Spring OPEN HOUSE, it for Saturday March 5th. Toni and I did a little shopping and found some pretty big old Coke signs, I found the COOLEST 2 bin cupboard (it could be used for potato's and onion's, or trash and recycle, or laundry, lights and darks) I also got a huge wooden trencher, it's rough but very cool. and I also found a great primitive table. We have been really busy at the shop, we just love seeing old and new friends!

Last weekend was an awesome weekend, we were busy from open to close. I just love days like that. The weather was beautiful and I brought in my favorite helper. My son Tyson used to come in with me all the time when we first opened and this was the first time he had come to work with me in ages. He's a hard worker and rarely complains about anything and is usually humming a song as he skips a long. He cleaned the windows, swept the front of the shop, helped me switch two tables and rang up a few sales on the register, I wouldn't trade him for all the gold in the world, he's a treasure and I am blessed!

A little spring tease!

Faux coffee staining tags.

If you are anything like me, your time is valuable. Who has time to stain tags with coffee and wait for them to dry in the oven, not to mention the mess. I love to use Tim Holtz inks, they are light and opaque and aren't big and bulky. I also love his stamp sets, they have a vintage look to them and I really like the clear ones, you can see where you are stamping BUT, you can use whatever catches you fancy.

">
1.) I go to the office supply store and buy tags in bulk or you can make your own. I used "Antique Linen" and smeared it over the tag and edges. Do not cover the whole tag letting the color of the tag come through.

2.) Next I used "Tea Dye" ink and hit the edges. Use a stipple or stencil brush and swirl it on the ink pad and then brush it onto the tag hitting some areas to make them darker, allowing the other colors to come through. You can repeat with another color or stop depending on the look you want to achieve.

3.) Next stamp image or sentiment over the tag. If you are just stamping a sentiment choose a darker/bolder color. I used "Fired Brick" with the "Believe" stamp.

4.) If you are doing a multistep stamp make sure the secondary/background stamp is a lighter color. The green color is called "Peeled Paint" and the sentiment stamp I used is called "Frayed Burlap".

My husband is ALWAYS telling me to take before and after pictures, I always say I will and forget the before picture. Signs of good things to come!

What a great year Toni and I had at the shop, we are so blessed to have the customers that we do. It's not a job if you love what you do and we truly love being at the shop. We are excited to see what this year brings us and so far so good. We were contacted by our local paper wanting to do an article on us. And we made the front page, it was actually a great article, if you are interested in checking it out click on the Facebook button and check out the link. But, on a lighter note. Toni and I went shopping the other day and we found a few things. Toni found the coolest advertising chalkboard, we founds some baskets, and two fairly large geese. I also got a few orders in and I finally found the small dried pineapples, dried slit oranges and will have them in the shop next week. Come by and check out our new found prims!

On the road again!

Toni and I haven't done any major shopping with the Holidays just past us, we are itching to get out and find some new treasures! Here are a few that we have around the shop, Toni brought in this wonderful vintage bicycle that would look great in the yard or if you want to actually ride you can do that too! She also found the coolest table that I think would make the most wonderful coffee table, you really have to see it in person but it's AWESOME! Happy Thanksgiving friends!
Thanks for being so patient with us, things have been very busy at the shop and Toni and I have been out at Fort Bragg at the Yule Mart all weekend just having a blast. If you haven't made it out don't fret, you still have Sunday 10-4 it's at the Ritz-Epps gym and we hope to see you. TORNADO WARNING!

If I didn't know any better I'd say a tornado touched down on Main street. No but, really we had the shop painted and the plan was to keep it as tidy as possible and just work around the painter, lets just say that it sounded like a good idea! It's kind of a chameleon color, it's a cross between pewter grey and a brownish color, I'll take pictures tomorrow. BIG, BIG shout out to Tom, THANK YOU! Happenings at the shop!

Toni and I have gotten quite a few things for the shop, she was lucky enough to find a really neat old hutch the glass on it is old and wavy. I just love the wood coming through and the hint of red, it's so pretty to me. She also found the sweetest little jelly cupboard, nice old thick cut wood and they used square nails. I of course had to get the heaviest piece of furniture, it's a beautiful red step back cupboard, I just have a thing for red! We sold our farm table and we have two that we will be bring in soon. We have been revamping the shop and getting it prettified and we will be painting next Tuesday (Well not us but the painters!) we will be open but more at your own risk, there's no telling what kind of a mess we'll have going on in there! Halloween is approaching!

Halloween is right around the corner, Toni and I have a few tricks up our sleeves for the shop, we are really excited and can't wait to get started, I'll fill y'all in later once we get finished! We will be working on getting the shop back to normal from our Cameron adventure today, we had so much fun and did really well but, it's always nice to get back to the shop!

Toni, Brittany, and I are all settled in under our huge oak tree, it's such a beautiful weekend to go antiquing and I have already bought a handful of things for myself and for the shop. If you have never been to Cameron Antique Fair, it's worth the trip twice a year, once in the spring and in the fall. Toni and I have a few new pieces, two awesome hutches and Toni has the most beautiful jelly cupboard with punched tin, the picture doesn't do it justice! It's always fun to get out of the shop and do something different, THANKS Dee, for letting us play!

Our Open House was a big success, we got to see old friends that we hadn't seen in while, a few that visit quite often and made a few new ones. I must admit we have the best customers! Now onto Cameron Antique fair October 1 & 2 in historic Cameron. We will be setting up on Friday the 1st of October (and selling) and also the 2nd, We will be under the big oak tree across from "The Prissy Hen" it's a fun weekend and a lot of good deals. It doesn't quite feel like Fall yet but we are just going to fake it! This Saturday, September 18 we are having our Fall Open House and we hope to see all of our Prim friends there. Everything will be at least 10% off and few things will be marked down even more. If you are interested in anything particular get there early, we should be pretty busy. See Y'all Saturday 10-5! Toni and I have been pretty busy at the shop, we have made some changes and continue to make the shop more exciting..... and we can't wait to share them with everyone!

All work and no play! Toni and I have been working hard on the shop we haven't had a chance to get out and do a little shopping. We are hoping to get out in the next few weeks and try to find some new goodies. We will also be having our Fall Open House Saturday, September 18. We will have all kinds of new things and lots of fall items, not to mention that everything will be at least 10% off, who doesn't love a good sale not to mention a good time. It's so funny, I never know what I am going to come across on my shopping adventures and I try not to have any expectations as to not be disappointed. I must admit the excitement of a real score is definitely a high! I am drawn to certain things like old tins, crocks, egg baskets, old books, chairs and the list could go on and on. But, lately I have come across a handful of dough bowls. There is so much you can do with them, use them to hold fruit, I use them to hold a few of my collections, they make great candle displays, a place of gather all of your remotes. Here are a few that I have at the shop.

Sorry friends, I have neglected my blog and all of you. I have been busy at the shop painting and sewing. I have been collecting flour/grain sacks for about a year and I have spent the last few days sewing a few into pillows. I am no seamstress, but if I say so myself, they turned out pretty good. I'll post pictures soon. Toni and I will be closed tomorrow (Thursday) for a little shopping trip. We have sold the heck out of furniture so, hopefully, we will find some so great pieces. Put on your calendars that we will be offering tax free weekend August 6-8.

I promise to try not to break out into song but, these are a few of my favorite things... that I collect! I am really drawn to egg baskets, kitchen tins especially lard cans, I like simple antiques like my small bench. I love dough bowls and I have a few that I like to put some of my collections, like wooden mashers and my collection graters and old cookie cutters. I also love things like vintage glass Easter candy holders, small milk cans, scoops, barrels and I have the coolest molasses keg. These are just a few things that I love, thanks for looking!

Hello friends, I hope you find this Monday as blessed as I do! I really hit the lottery on Friday, I was driving to the shop and I passed this little junk shop and outside they had two wash stands. I did a "U turn" and pulled up and asked the guy working there what he wanted for both of them and if they had any other antiques. He told me that they had two tall oak full size beds, if I was interested. Well....YAH! He made a quick call to the owner and gave me a price of what I could sell one of the wash stands for. I was trying to play it cool and keep in mind that cool isn't my strong suit! He said yes, that's for all four. I loaded them so fast into my truck trying not to squeal like a little piggy.

Hello friends, sorry it has been so long since I've blogged. I don't think I can even begin to tell y'all how busy the past few weeks have been but, I'll hit the high points. I'd just like to tell you how lucky of a girl I am. First of all, I have the best business partner a girl could ask for. I just love Toni to death and really I couldn't do the things I do without her and I am very thankful for her being so thoughtful and giving me the past few weeks off to spend with my family, thanks Toni. Love ya girl!

Well, my husband has been deployed to Iraq for the past 10 months and flew in for 2 weeks for our daughter's High school graduation, we have had family at the house on and off for two weeks, worked on a few things around the house, took him up to see the college that she got accepted into (North Carolina School of the Arts), we also got her a new car and started to get her ready for college. Lets just say the past two weeks have been a blur. But, this morning I dropped Dana off at the airport to head back to Iraq for his last 30 or so days of his deployment. I am looking forward to life returning to normal or as close as we can get it and can't wait to get back into the shop!

Memorial day!

There are certain Holidays that really make me think, and Memorial Day is one. Especially living in a military town and being married to a soldier, who is a son of a Vietnam vet and a grandson to two WWII vets. It's always a little bitter sweet when he's deployed and it sure seems like he's gone more than he's home. I am so very thankful that he will be home next week, if only for two weeks, we will cherish every moment. We would like to give a big THANK YOU to all the men and women and families who have sacrificed so much, and especially to the ones past and present who sacrificed EVERYTHING!

North Carolina weather has beautiful BUT, hot. We could use some rain but, I can't complain too much! We had such a great day at the shop today, I swear we have the BEST customers! Toni stumbled onto an auction today and found some really great finds, I'll post pics next week, I have 1st dibs on this barrel she bought. I found a great iron bed, it's a full size and is so heavy. We will be having our Summer Open House the 1st Saturday in June (the 5th). Everything will be at least 10% off.

Well, it's been raining here in Fayetteville. Growing up in Western Washington, I really don't mind the rain, I now find it rather comforting. Hopefully it will stop by the time Toni and I unload the truck from this weekend, we will have to do some tweaking since we are coming back with less but it might be a a sign for us to plan a shopping trip. I will be posting pics later once we get some what back to normal. I hope everyone has a blessed day!

Toni, Brittany and I had such a great weekend. Thanks for all of your help Brittany, we really appreciated you coming. Toni and I saw a handful of customers and friends and passed out a lot of cards. We really liked our location and when I tell you it was so cool under that huge Oak tree, it was, I think I heard it was in the 90's on Saturday. And we had the nicest neighbors and will plan a shopping trip to visit one soon, it was hard not to spend everything we made there but I managed to buy two dough bowls and few baskets, not that I need them but I couldn't help myself. Toni bought the cutes horsey ride, it's so cute, I'll have to take pictures, I actually had one when I was a kid but it wasn't as cute as this one. Here are a few pictures of our space.

Busy past few weeks!

Toni, Liz and I have had a busy past few weeks at the shop, we have made some changes and will continue to make more. We are going to be painting and putting up some shelves and making it more homey in the shop. Toni and I moved in so quickly that we really didn't have the time to get in and paint or really do much to get it the way we wanted but we are getting there slowly but surely. The girls and I went shopping last week with our wonderful friend Harriet and she shared a few of her favorite shopping places and of course we went shopping at her place too. Come on by and check out our new goodies!

We found this prim green cupboard shopping last week. We transferred it from their truck onto our truck and it was so had to tell just how big it was until Toni and I got it into the shop but, it looks great, I am still debating if I should paint it or not.

We have made some huge changes to the shop, We got rid of those UGLY counters that I hated, they took us so much space and were too bulky. Thanks Jeff for making our new counter, it looks so much better. If anyone is looking for any kind of home improvements, Jeff is your guy, check out his blog on our link. Our Holiday hours will just slightly change, we will be open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and probably Monday but we will be closed Tuesday, the three of us are heading out of town for some good ol' shopping. so check back with us on Wednesday to see all the prims we find.

Hey guys! my good friend Harriet called and she has the cutest shop in West End, NC and this Saturday March 20 she is having a stimulus sale most things will be 50% off, she needs to make room for more stuff and we need to do our best to help and support the economy, yes this is what I tell myself when I go shopping. Her place is at the traffic light in West End. The way I go is toward Aberdeen to the traffic circle loop around and head toward the hospital and that will take you to West End, she has two places and there's another across the way. My son told me that the official first day of Spring is Saturday but, my allergies are in full swing. My Pear tree's have blumed and as soon as the pollen settles so will I. Things have been great at the shop between Toni, Liz, and I we have quite a lot of new things. Liz has brought in nice pie safe, drop leaf table, and of course her beautiful stitcheries. Toni ordered some cute Eater/Spring items. We are hoping to go shopping next week.

Well, the snow is melted, it's sunny a little chilly but, I can live with that. Boy, am I ready for spring! We have some neat things at the shop, Toni got in some pepper bush and is it pretty, our great friend Liz who will be joining this crazy group(boy, she doesn't know what she's getting into with us!) makes the most beautiful stitchery's and make-do's, I can't wait to post pics of her work. I have been busy making wreaths and a few signs and we are just thrill for our open house. We are hoping to get another shopping day in before that since our last trip was uneventful. We also found this iron bed, it's so sweet. I have been buying a lot of quilts lately. This is the back end of the shop, I think it's my favorite area, it's so cozy and everything is tuck into just the right spot.

We haven't been shopping for a few weeks but, we do have some new things in since last time I blogged, I found this great farm table with 6 mismatched pressed back chairs. It a nice big table that seats 6 comfortably.

Shopping days are about my favorite thing to do, I just love it, I never have any expectations and usually look at it as a treasure hunt. We have two ladies that take really good care us when shopping, a little shout out to Beth & Harriet... THANKS! Well my day started out with Starbucks and then I grabbed Toni and we roll on out, heading to Sanford hit the Antique Mall and only found a few things, went to out other spot and their prices have sky rocketted, head out to Beth's and she's in Atlanta shopping at this point we are a little frustrated so we head out to Harriet's and there's no doubt that we can't find something in her 3 building and of course we did, Toni got two tall long tables that would make great desks or kitchen islands. Well one sold yesterday when she was working on it! she has also become adicted to old tool boxes and found two great ones, I got a few quilts, and cute iron twin bed, and a prim corner cupboard and a nice prim table. So the day ended up being a good day!
